The engine, chassis and running gear from this car are late 1973 GT-6. The body tub is from a 1980 Spitfire.
I have rebuilt the carbs, adding K&N filters and a heat shield. Replaced bad water pump, all flex hoses and rebuilt the Right Rear axle. The distributor was professionally rebuilt after finding a new vacuum advance for the one removed by the P.O. The vacuum advance canister came from Quality Rebuilds Ltd [barry@qualityrebuilds.com] in New Zealand. (Great guy & excellent service!)
Since the original wood veneer on the dash was peeling, I replaced it with bird's eye maple veneer (theveneerstore.com) and I'm very pleased with the results.
It had a Spitfire Speedo and GT-6 tach, so I found a replacement Speedo on EBAY and rebuilt all the gauges. I also found a replacement Hazard switch from EBAY UK. Victoria British & BPNW have been my primary suppliers for parts.
I replaced the original ragged soft top with a new on from KEE, which I ordered in a custom color. Beautifully made and was an easy intall. Snaps were factory installed. I didn't do a professional job. but I think it looks (and works) just fine.
By fixing the engine electronics (It also has a Crane ignition) and the carburation, the problem of bad compression (I know, should've figured that out before) has been exposed in cylinders 2 & 5. So, when money becomes available, I'll rebuild the engine. I'll keep you posted.
