I was born into a British Car enthusiast family. My first car was a 1975 Triumph Spitfire. My current car is a 1972 Midget. It's the first car project that is 100% me without help from dad.

Build Day!

DSCN1902

Finally have all of the parts I need to put my engine back together. Just in time too, school starts back on Monday. Moss forgot my shims for behind the crankshaft timing pulley, but everything lined up really well without them. Tomorrow's mother's day so I'm not sure how much I'll be able to get away with.

Back In Black!

Today I painted the block, cylinder head and valve cover. I also placed the "So now that you have your engine back, what did you forget to order?" order. I had forgotten freeze plugs, ground strap (old one was hangin' on by a thread), Shims, and exhaust manifold studs. Tonight I will get the crankshaft in place.

Woo-hoo!

Thanks Quincy

Picked up my block, cylinder head and crankshaft from the machine shop yesterday! It's going to be a great weekend. I'll try to post better pics of the assembly.

Machine Shop Report

Posted on: Friday March 26, 2010

I got the news from the machine shop. I need to have the cylinders bored .40 over (#4 cylinder was in pretty bad shape) and the crank polished .010/.010. I'm also having the head and block both skimmed, and valve seats cut. My camshaft was in pretty bad shape as well, with transverse grooves on the top of the lobes. I have the parts ordered to put everything back together.(Thanks Hap!)
