Nice Wheels

Posted on: Monday July 11, 2011

Close up

July 7 2011: I finished my driver side wheels today. They turned out Great! Really happy with the results. The Tachs also arrived at Foreign Speedo on Friday. I'll touch base with Preston on Tuesday. I need to fix the cig lighter so I can charge my phone while driving. I also fixed the front dvr side running light and the license plate lights. I'm still running a bit too lean on the carbs. The points need to be re-gapped to .015 and timing needs to be checked. I'll try to get the pass side wheel...

Primed And Ready

Before Primer

July 2 2011: Spent the better part of the afternoon preping the wheels for primer. This is a labor of love without a doubt. I think the wheels will look great when finished! They'll look even better with a set of 2 ear knockoffs. I'll let the wheels bake in the sun on Sunday before I apply the color.

Bead Blasted

Before Bead Blasting

June 30 2011: I took 2 of the wire wheels to B&D and bead blasted down to bare metal. The BB booth was a great tool; It cut right through the rust and old paint and left a nice smooth surface to work with. I need to find the correct paint to use. I need something that will hold up against the heat and daily driving.

Before Bead Blasting

June 29 2011: I paid a visit to an old employer from about 20 yrs ago today. I was surprised to see as many familiar faces as I did. I talked with the shop foreman and asked to use the bead blasting cabinet to clean my wire wheels. After a few questions, I was set to go! I'll take the two driver's side wheels tomorrow afternoon. I'm sure I over-corrected the mixture on the carbs, running a little to lean based of the throttle response.
