More Old Photo's Of Nance

Since the ex-wife select decided I no longer could be within 150' of her the project has stalled. That's been rectified and I'm back in my house. It did take a toll however. The chassis sat outside for 6 months uncovered. The motor isn't stuck but every thing looks like crap now. Oh well. In my absence from my shop, I did score a ton of parts off of a MKIV at a local yard. Sad, the body was way nicer than anything I own. I got a serviceable interior, complete wiring harness with switches, seats etc. I also scored a TR6 motor and trans with OD from the same yard...

I just got done putting a motor in this I m now

I just got done putting a motor in this... I'm now in need of a kid hauler. Gotta love C/L.

Nance is back in the shop The body is sitting on

Nance' is back in the shop. The body is sitting on the chassis which is why it looks funny.

The Saga Continues...

I stripped a bunch of parts off of my 1500. I was in the middle of restoring it when I fell into another project/deal. So everything I just hung on the new/used chassis is like new. The motor is Nancy's 1296. Her body is currently hanging from my HF engine crane. Holy cow, that makes it soooo much easier to weld up holes! I'll try to get some disassembly photos up.

Paint!

So after a good scraping and wire wheeling I'm ready for paint. If this were going to a show car or a full on resoration, I'd probably blast the frame. It's not. It's going to be a beater/driver. The product I'm using is called "Chassis Saver". It's a knock off of POR-15 and way cheaper. The instructions say no primer is needed and you can paint right over the rust. I used a brush to apply. This stuff flows out nicely. It looks like it was sprayed. I used 2/3 of a quart to coat the whole thing. Not bad for less than $50.

Body Mounts Top

I noticed the top mounts were pretty soft thanks to the tin worms. Nothing a little more metal can't fix. Then it's on to wire wheeling and prepping for paint.

Rust, Rust, Rust!

After smacking the holes into the frame, I used a mirror to take a look inside. The only really rusty spot was right aroung the hole. I figerd a patch would most likely easy repair. I made up a template and cut a couple patches from 1/8" plate. I know it's a bit overkill, but I have the metal laying around from my Jeep project.

Fun With Frame Damage

dave roberts usa — Posted on The Triumph Experience
Monday May 23, 2011 4:21 PM
So I'm at the auto parts store in my Herald. This guy walks up and asks if I'd like to buy a Midget. I politley answered no, to which he added it was cheap. 4 hours later it was sitting my driveway. It turned out it needed a motor. I didn't feel like spending the time or money on fixing it so I put it on ebay. The guy who bought the Midget offered up "Nancy" as a partial trade. The car came with a title, but it was signed in the wrong spot. Luckily for me, it turns out the car belonged to one of my co worker's brother in law. It took me a couple months to get a proper title, but I have one now. So full throttle ahead! The poor car has had the color changed twice, most of the sheet metal is from other cars, it's very rusty for a Colorado car and whomever painted it last was a $%^&&* sculpter. Lot's of filler. That's the lilte stuff. The car has a nasty lean to it. I swapped out the spring, turned the spring 180 deg, checked the allignment but it still leans. This lead me to believe the frame is bent. What to do next? Replace the frame! I have a spare laying around from a car I junked a few years back. Overall, the frame looks pretty solid despite have 2 holes rusted under the body mounts. I'd opened the holes up with a hammer.
