Paint Experiment Continues
Created on 2008-07-19 15:28:33
For some time now I have been trying to get a formula for the "Grampian Grey" MG paint color to use on my 74B resto project. Have managed to make some progress.
Located a source online that sells touchup paint in various quantities. Managed to get a sample of their Grampian Grey color for testing.
After much effort, finally able to get a local paint supply shop to mix a formula based on a Dupont paint formula found online for Grampian Grey. This is where the effort got really interesting. The online formula source listed base mixes for what turned out to be "european" paint base products not used in the US even by the same paint manufacturer! The US has a separate paint base product line that was listed under a separate reference system and with considerable effort, finally found someone within Dupont that could translate the two reference systems to get a compatible US paint mix formula.
I have tested the two samples using my little MG test mule to make a final color selection for further paint efforts. Can you spot the difference?
