I finally mounted the block on the engine stand and painted it.

Today was warm finally... Stuart, Aaron, Forrest, Austin and Christian worked on the engine. There was blood, sweat and tears. All mine. Do not ever attempt to catch a flywheel with your foot... Actually, it went very smoothly. Stuart is aces and everyone did what he said - even me. We have pieces of "Nigel" everywhere. I thank God for good friends and today was special in that we even did a "Hands and Feet" job for a wonderful lady from church. I can't wait for putting back together what we have not so delicately taken apart. I want the engine and front and rear suspension back together by February 5. We shall see. Tune in.

My first car at age 16 was a 1965 Triumph TR4A - purchased , I believe , in 1971. I loved that car and had just soooo very much fun in it , drivin` in the mountains of Western NC where I grew up . Great memories , a wonder I survived. I sold that car whole in college `cause I needed the $$$ and had no money to fix it up properly. Kicked myself for years every time I thought about it. Got married to a wonderfull woman at age 34 and on our 2nd Christmas together she totally suprised me with a 1967 TR4A in my garage Christmas AM . Drove around in my boxer shorts for a while that mornin`! That is the car I have now and for much of it`s life it`s still been in the garage in much need of repair. ( 3 sons to raise ) This past Dec. `07 I did manage to get it painted and hope within the next 6 months to have the engine rebuilt - with a little extra punch to it . Must go back to work now.

I have always wanted to go to a Minnesota Triumph Sports Car Club meeting, but it meets at Fort Snelling's Officer's Club, and when I was unemployed last summer I couldn't afford the drive. Now I work five miles away and decided to go. They meet the second Thursday of the month. The meeting itself was boring, conducted as it was by classic rules, but I met some interesting people. It seems that almost everyone who drives a Spitfire is an insanely tall or large person. I thought I was big at 6'2" and 250 lbs., but I was average or even on the small side compared to most of these guys! After the meeting we all went out to look at the cars, but it was crappy weather and there were about six Spitfires and one TR3. I tried to get some ideas of where everything went so I could use it on my car, and some carb ideas as well. One guy had a four pack of Mikuni carbs on his that was interesting. We didn't stay long because as it got towards dusk, te temp dropped to around 40 degrees and the wind was blowing 25 to 30 mph along with light drizzle. It was freaking cold! I think I will hit next months and hope for nicer weather. I will have to bring my camera along as well.

Told ya about the show. Ran in to a little rain on the way at 6:00am in the morning, but the rainbow on the way across the 520 bridge over Lake Washington into Seattle was fantastic! Got a little wet, but heck, I had enough towels to start a small hotel. Arrived at the show, picked up my packet and found my parking spot between a 1949 Dodge Power Wagon and a 1948 Chevy pickup, both were sparten. The weather came around and the day turned out to be nice, warm and sunny. My little brother met me at the show and we headed off for a little bite to eat at the Pig and Whistle! After a cup of java and a bite, we headed off up and down Greenwood Ave to look at the fine automobiles - pics coming! Saw some Austin Healeys, Mini Coopers, not the new ones! Ford Cobras, etc., etc. Around 1:00pm I stopped back at the little red car, only to find that she had been picked as the first place Sports Car 1960+, yippee! Got to go up to the main stage area and pick up my beautiful 1st place plaque from Lance Lambert of the Vintage Car TV Show. How cool is that? We spent the reaminder of the day at my bro's place celebrating my little sisters birthday and sharing our day at the car show. What a blast! I don't know how to top this one, but I may have to get out to the shows more often. Nothing better than having someone besides me say they like our car! Till next time, take it out as much as you can. Ya know what I mean. CR.

I am amazed at what I am finding out about Tr6 cars... I have rebuilt many old cars and several hot rods, and never have I come across such low curb weight with decent horse power... I have also never seen wiring issues like this before... If anyone has any advice one how to fix my wiring, I would appreciate it... I need many parts... but it is part of the adventure to find them and make sure they are in good shape.. Well, now that I have done a frame repair it is moving forward fast... my goal is to have it streetable by spring... My son is due in June.. and I need to be ready for that.. so the car needs to be at a stable place by then... Any advice or helpful hints would be welcome...
