Purchased in 1984 or 1985 for $2,000. Throttle was stuck (revved at 2500 idle) but problem was easily solved with some Marvel Mystery Oil in the carbs. Headlight motors never worked. Had new top, 60 series tires and was SUPERB to drive! Sold during a fit of pique at the continuing wiring problems for $2500 in 1987/8. Miss her very much.
Added tuned exhaust and 12" steering wheel. New top cover, etc. etc. Even drove it in Maine winters for 2+ years! Only parked when snow banks were higher than antenna = = made the car quite invisible at intersections and therefore DANGEROUS.

MG Magnette

Don't remember if it was a MKIII or a MKIV but I suspect it was the MKIV. Bought the car in Las Vegas in 1967 to replace my 1961 Chevrolet Impala and its gas-burning 348cid motor. Had the original owners manual and the hand crank! Even used it to see if it really worked. Headed out from LV in August 1967 for Maine. In UTAH lost electric fuel pump. Sanded contacts for a few hundred miles but gave up and was actually able to buy a replacement at a Western Auto store somewhere in UTAH. In Nebraska radator sprang several leaks that one can of "Stop-Leak" took care of. In Massachusetts lost generator but was able to buy one in Springfield. Put fan belt on too tight and somewhere just north of Boston the belt actually CUT the pulley in two. Garage owner was able to shim a pulley that worked. No further problems all the way to Northern Maine. Over 2000 miles in 7 days. After I left for Okinawa my wife experienced the wiper motor dying but was able to get it fixed. She put a fresh paint job on the car and sold it for more than we paid for it. Money bought tickets for wife and daughter to join me in Okinawa. Miss that car. Now retired, would buy it back in a hearbeat!
