Took the bumpers to the chromers. $670 to get them both cleaned up and triple chromed. Should have them back end of next week or the first of the following week.

Dickie,
Post pictures of the finished bumpers when you get them back. I'm very interested to know what you think and who you used.

I thought I would cronical my build if anyone is doing likewise or is interested or just likes seeing pics of stuff they might wonder about.
To date, I have done the following:
Mechanicals: 8 months: re-built tranny, rebuilt diff, new u-joints, new brakes, calipers, drums, rotors, front and rear suspension bushings/bits/bolts, etc. New alum wheels and Yoko tires. So the full drive train is like new. approx $2500
Electrical: 2 months: Front wiring harness, trunk lights, floor lights, 4 speaker stereo, re-conditioned all gages, new headlights (eurostyle), reconditioned side lights frt/rr. So all the electricals are working and shiney. aprox $1000
Interior: 3 months: Re-covered seats/new foam, visors, door panels, cockpit panel, dash, relaminated wood dash, new wiper squirterparts, cleaned/lubed all door hardware, new door locks, new wood steering wheel and shift knob, made/covered panels for trunk. $$1000
Body: 4 months: all body work, paint base/clear body and frame, new weatherstrips everywhere, new windshield and trim.$1500
Engine: 2 months: Complete teardown and rebuild from the oil pump to the valve train, rebuilt carb, new radiator. $1000
I will write later about what I have left and post pics of each step.

Dickie,
It's not healthy to keep track of what you've been spending on your car... Your spouse might find out!

Finished the wet sanding and buffing tonight. What a laborious job, but well worth it. Im all in all very pleased with the results. Now i can start putting the car back together.
I put the rubber frame on the new windshield. Ill install the chrome trim on it befor i put it in the car.

It was impossible to get the chrome trim on the windshield. Ill wait till its in.

Well it doesnt look good, so i took the chrome back off.

Started Bodywork!

Started the body work this week. Started on the trunk lid.
What a warped and wavy surface. I tried filling, sanding, etc. the lid kept moving and popping. Needless to say, I was chasing a moving target.
What I had to do to stabilize it was work on the braces under the surface of the lid. There was a big (1/8 to 1/4" gap between the lid and the braces. First I stuffed old sandpaper between and it that made the lid rock solid. So, I got some clear silicone and squirted it between there so you couldn't really see it and let it cure. Solid as a rock. Now the lid is coming along nicely.
I bought one of those pneumatic long block sanders and my compressor couldn't keep up, so now I have a bigger compressor. Works pretty good now.

I put my new wheels on the car today.
They are from Rimmer Bros. The mini-lite 14 x 6. Cool that they came with everything except tires. What a great deal. Wrapped them in Yokohama AVS's 185-60R14 and they ride great, handle great, and don't rub anywhere. Total spent was around $1,300.00.
